These short explanations help you get started with EPD-Online. The applicable programme and product rules remain authoritative for your project.
EPD and declaration owner
EPD stands for Environmental Product Declaration. It provides environmental information for a defined product scope. The declaration owner is the responsible organisation named in the document; an editor is not automatically the declaration owner.
LCA and background report
Life Cycle Assessment, or LCA, assesses environmental impacts on a defined basis. The background report documents the data and decisions used, making the calculations traceable.
PCR and reference quantity
PCR means Product Category Rules. The declared or functional unit provides the reference for reported results. Values with different reference quantities must not be compared without technical interpretation.
Verification and publication
Verification is the independent review. Publication is the subsequent completion stage making the EPD available. A saved draft, a document under review and a published declaration are different states.
