Clear preparation turns the intention to obtain an EPD into a manageable project. This guide takes you through the decisions to make before working in EPD-Online.
Define your project
List the products, variants and production sites that need an EPD. Add target markets, the required language and the reason for the project, such as a customer request. A customer deadline is a planning target, not a confirmed publication date.
Assign responsibilities
Appoint an internal project lead and establish who will provide LCA expertise. Agree whether your consultant’s scope includes data collection, the background report, text, data entry and verification queries. This avoids gaps between calculation and document preparation.
Confirm participation and rules
Check eligibility for the IBU programme and the relevant PCR with the appropriate contacts. Register with EPD-Online and arrange access to create your own EPDs. Having an account does not by itself mean that every project function is enabled.
Start with a shared project brief
Record product scope, responsible people, the data period and next milestones in a short project brief. Start collecting existing technical documents. Base detailed data collection on the requirements agreed with your LCA specialist.
