As the year draws to a close, membership in the Institut Bauen und Umwelt (IBU) will cross the 200-mark line. The most recent member is the traditional company OGRO GmbH.
First Draft of EN 15804+A2 Following Adoption of Amendment M350
After eleven meetings held subsequent to the last plenary session in Berlin in November 2016, a first draft of the new EN 15804+A2 was presented in October 2017 in Valetta, Malta. The draft had been prepared by six working groups, who met independently to develop the draft and compile it for presentation at the 2017 plenary session.

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has released a new version of ISO 21930.
New rules for the PCR part B “Cable tray systems for cable ladder systems” and “Boards and panels made of plastic”
After the approval of the Advisory Board (IBU SVR) the PCR Part B “Cable Carrier Systems for Electrical Installations” is renamed to “Cable carrier and cable channels for cable ladder systems” and extended its scope.
EPDs for HPL and HPL compact
After the ICDLI (International Committee of the Decorative Laminates Industry aisbl) had developed an EPD for the first time in 2012, the environmental product declarations have now been updated. These are valid for five years. The environmental product declarations audited by the independent program holder Institute for Building and Environment e.V. (IBU) have been produced to the highest standard of type III.

In October 2017, the Institut Bauen und Umwelt held its second training programme for life cycle assessors and EPD creators, aimed at providing information on both new developments to EPD programme rules as well as on how to ensure the most efficient and highest quality verifications of IBU environmental product declarations possible.
Memorandum of Understanding signed with France
Alliance HQE-GBC, as INIES database owner from France, and IBU (Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.V.) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) on September 26th, 2017 during ECO Platform board meeting in Oslo.
