Duration depends on data availability, product scope and the coordination required. A reliable schedule therefore starts with the information available for your specific project.

Plan preparation as the first milestone

Set a deadline for agreeing scope, PCR and commissioning. Check whether quantities, energy records and supplier information are available. Missing data from several sites may take longer to obtain than entering the results in the platform.

Coordinate calculations and review

Agree dates with your LCA specialist for data delivery, questions and the first document draft. Involve internal reviewers who can assess product descriptions and technical information. A handover is complete when the recipient can continue the work.

Allow time for verification and publication

IBU indicates that verification generally requires several weeks. The scope and number of revisions affect the actual duration. Discuss your intended publication date early and allow time for revisions and final approval.

Handle pauses and customer deadlines

After longer pauses, recheck data, programme rules and consultant availability. Tell customers the actual project status without presenting a draft as a published EPD. A firm commitment should be based on an agreed overall schedule.
