Round table kick-off sus­tain­able con­struc­tion with EPDs for build­ing technology

The IBU invites all inter­est­ed par­ties in the build­ing ser­vices indus­try to an open exchange on the impor­tance of Envi­ron­men­tal Prod­uct Dec­la­ra­tions (EPDs) for the build­ing ser­vices industry!

Tar­get group:

The event is aimed at rep­re­sen­ta­tives from all areas of build­ing tech­nol­o­gy — from heat pumps, CHPs and con­dens­ing boil­ers to PV sys­tems, solar ther­mal ener­gy, ven­ti­la­tion, cool­ing, light­ing and con­trol and mea­sure­ment technology.

Why you should participate? 

It is essen­tial to think and plan the build­ing tech­nol­o­gy used in build­ings and the build­ing mate­ri­als and prod­ucts used in the build­ing togeth­er in order to enable sus­tain­able con­struc­tion, oper­a­tion and dis­man­tling. This is the only way to achieve a holis­ti­cal­ly sus­tain­able build­ing con­cept! The build­ing life cycle assess­ment and the under­ly­ing prod­uct data in the form of EPDs are the rec­og­nized method for assess­ing the sus­tain­abil­i­ty of build­ings and are com­mon prac­tice for build­ing prod­uct man­u­fac­tur­ers. Increas­ing­ly, life cycle assess­ment data for build­ing ser­vices is also becom­ing relevant.

Let’s start a con­ver­sa­tion about:

• The influ­ence of TGA prod­ucts on sus­tain­able construction
• The increas­ing demand and impor­tance of EPDs in accor­dance with EN 15804 for build­ing technology
• Clos­ing the data gap by EPDs for build­ing ser­vices products

• Clas­si­fi­ca­tion of the top­ic by Prof. Dr. Thomas Lützk­endorf (KIT): Over­all insight into the impor­tance of EPDs for the TGA industry.
• Prac­ti­cal expe­ri­ence report from the Zum­to­bel Group (Johannes Beit­er): Auto­mat­ed cre­ation of EPDs for light­ing technology
• Brief pre­sen­ta­tion of the IBU EPD pro­gram by Ste­fan Zwerenz, Head of the IBU Ver­i­fi­ca­tion Body: EPD process and added val­ue of the IBU as pro­gram operator
• An open dis­cus­sion and room for questions
