The Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.V. (IBU) is actively committed to ecological transparency and sustainability in the construction industry and is bringing these topics into focus at the 4th Life Cycle Innovation Conference 2024 (LCIC). The controversial mass balance approach – an analytical tool for monitoring and controlling material flows in the production process – will be examined in detail as part of a panel on July 5th from 11:00 to 12:00 am. <\/p>\n
Florian Pronold, Managing Director of the IBU, will moderate the panel and will also introduce the association and its activities. Stefan Zwerenz, Head of the Verification Department at IBU, will contribute his expertise. Dr. Christian Kr\u00fcger from BASF, a practical expert from the chemical industry, will supplement the theoretical perspective with practical insights.<\/p>\n
The aim of the panel is to gain a future-oriented perspective on the challenges and possible solutions of the allocation approach and to highlight a concrete application example from the chemical industry. The focus will be on the consideration of the mass balance approach to promote transparency, resource efficiency and the long-term transformation of the economy towards greater environmental protection.<\/p>\n
Particular attention will also be paid to the risks of greenwashing in order to promote an open discourse on the contribution of the mass balance approach to achieving global sustainability goals. The exchange is intended to stimulate discussion between the experts and provide new impetus.<\/p>\n
