SUMMARY:#IBU-Wissen: EU-CPR (1/3)
DESCRIPTION:With the new EU Construction Products Regulation (CPR)\, environmental performance indicators will be more closely integrated into CE marking in future. This brings into focus issues that many companies are currently grappling with: AVCP 3+\, FPC (factory production control) and factory or (initial) site inspections. At the same time\, the specific details of these requirements are still being worked out at European level. Guidelines are being developed\, terminology is being refined and responsibilities are being clarified. For manufacturers\, this means one thing above all: an increasing need for information and a desire for reliable classification. \nAs EPD programme holder\, the IBU closely monitors regulatory developments and prepares the relevant content in a structured manner for its members. The aim is to provide guidance at an early stage and create transparency in a dynamic process. \n  \nTo this end\, a recurring three-part webinar series will launch shortly\, offering a structured overview of current developments and an opportunity for members to ask questions and engage in discussion. \nThe contents of the webinars with Dr. Martina Bender are structured as follows: \n\nWebinar 1: The Regulatory Framework: Context and Fundamentals \nWebinar 2: Organisation within the company: Making FPC practical and easy to implement in the 3+ System\nWebinar 3: The Site Inspection: Procedure\, cooperation and practical preparation\n\nIBU members can register exclusively and free of charge for our first online event on Thursday\, 26 March 2026\, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. (pls find the registration link on the right site). \n#IBUWissen: EU-CPR (1/3)\nPart 1 – The regulatory framework: Context and Fundamentals \nThe webinar series is initially aimed at our German-speaking IBU members. We will record the webinar and make it available with English subtitles afterwards.

SUMMARY:Webinar with Ecochain: EPDs in practice
DESCRIPTION:On 22 January\, the Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.V. (IBU) and Ecochain will be hosting a joint live webinar on the practical use of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs)\, running from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (CET). \nThe event will begin with a short\, practical workshop led by Ecochain. Drawing on 15 years’ experience of implementing LCA solutions and EPDs in the Netherlands\, Scandinavia and Germany\, Ecochain will demonstrate how industrial manufacturers can transform scattered product data into high-quality\, verifiable EPDs that stakeholders can trust\, in a scalable and efficient manner. \nThe workshop will cover everything from collecting product data and building a solid LCA foundation\, to calculating LCAs that stand up to critical scrutiny and publishing with the IBU. Emma Thunnissen (Education Lead at Ecochain Technologies) will explain what each step involves\, where teams typically encounter difficulties\, and how LCA automation can simplify the process. \nBuilding on this\, Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.V. (IBU) will provide a comprehensive overview of the EPD process from the programme holder’s perspective. Peter Hackmann (Head of Programme and Senior Consultant at IBU) will explain IBU’s role as an independent programme authority\, the EPD creation and verification process\, and the formal and content requirements for a publishable EPD. The different publication formats available and how they are used in practice will also be highlighted.  \nThe application-specific classification of EPDs will also be discussed\, for example in the context of building life cycle assessments and certification systems such as DGNB and QNG. Regulatory requirements will also be covered\, particularly in connection with the Construction Products Regulation. \nFurther information: \nIBU members can participate at a special discounted price by using the code MEMBERS26.  \nThe event will be held in German. \nThe webinar will not be recorded. \nParticipants will receive the presentation afterwards. \nAccess details will be sent shortly before the webinar begins. \nFor further information and to register\, please follow the link. \nWe wish you a relaxing pre-Christmas period and would like to thank you for your continued support. We look forward to working with you in 2026.

SUMMARY:Future-proof building products: environmental requirements in the context of the new CPR & Digital Product Passport
DESCRIPTION:The construction industry is on the verge of a transformation: with the new Construction Products Regulation (CPR) and the introduction of the Digital Product Passport\, important changes are on the horizon that will affect how environmental information is used and provided\, and will require more digital data. How can manufacturers and planners meet these requirements while also developing future-proof construction products?\n \nThe CPR establishes harmonized conditions for the marketing of construction products throughout Europe to ensure their performance and safety. The introduction of the Digital Product Passport aims to make comprehensive information on the environmental impact and sustainability of construction products digitally available. \nThese developments promote transparency along the entire value chain and support the implementation of circular economy principles in the construction sector. For manufacturers and planners\, this means that they must deal intensively with the new requirements in order to develop and use future-proof construction products. \nOur webinar offers a valuable platform to provide information about these current changes and to discuss practical solutions. It helps professionals prepare for the challenges ahead and make the most of the opportunities arising from the regulations. We will be highlighting the most important changes and showing what role environmental product declarations (EPDs) will play in a sustainable future for construction. \nFurther information: \n\nIBU members can participate at a discounted special rate. The discount codes will be sent out by newsletter.\nThe webinar language is German.\nThe webinar will not be recorded.\nParticipants will receive the presentation afterwards.\n\nRegister now via the event website and secure your place. \nWe look forward to your participation.

SUMMARY:FORUM:BAU - The future of construction: CO2-neutral\, circular\, digital
DESCRIPTION:The construction industry plays a key role in combating climate change\, as the climate transition is not least a construction project: resource-efficient buildings\, sustainable energy generation and future-proof infrastructure must be built. At the same time\, the construction sector itself is one of the largest producers of climate-damaging emissions and one of the largest consumers of natural resources. The industry therefore not only has a great responsibility\, but also a great power to shape the success of the climate transition – and a great need for change. \nAt FORUM:BAU\, future shapers will come together to discuss specific changes in the industry and their implementation. Decision-makers from business\, research\, architecture and politics will develop innovative solutions for the future of construction along the themes of decarbonization\, circularity and digitalization. They share concrete approaches to realizing greater sustainability in all project phases\, from planning and operation to the reuse of buildings. They are looking for forward-looking solutions for the increasing complexity in construction\, discussing social needs and expectations of construction and addressing the necessary political framework conditions to enable an efficient circular economy in practice. \nAll of this can only be achieved together and requires constructive discourse. This is why Holcim is offering FORUM:BAU\, an industry event for dialog and networking – a must-attend event for anyone who wants to get to grips with the future of construction and play an active role in shaping it. Of course\, we will also be there with a presentation by Florian Pronold. \nWe will of course also be there with a presentation by Florian Pronold: “Life cycle assessment and more – who makes the facts and what do we do with them?” at the themed talk round from 14:00 – 15:30 p.m. \nMembers of the IBU receive an exclusive 50% discount on the regular ticket price. SUMMARY:Transparent sustainability communication: introduction of the new Product Carbon Footprint (PCF)
DESCRIPTION:At a time when credible sustainability communication is becoming increasingly important\, the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) offers a reliable and comprehensible method of communicating the carbon footprint of your products. \nThe principle remains the same: Anyone who advertises with environmental claims must be able to substantiate them credibly. Your Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) forms a valuable and reliable basis for this. Based on the EPDs already reviewed by the IBU\, the PCF presents the total greenhouse gas emissions in CO₂ equivalents that occur during the life cycle of a product. \nFlorian Pronold (Managing Director) and Anita Kietzmann (Head of Public Relations and Member Services) present the new service and explain it in this online session: \n\nThe benefits of the PCF for your company.\nRequirements for the creation of the PCF at the IBU.\nImportant aspects for credible communication with environmental data.\nAn outlook on the increasing importance of credible\, independently verified environmental claims (keyword: Green Claims Directive\, CPR etc.).\nOpen Q&A session.\n\nWe are convinced that we can provide excellent added value through the already verified EPD data and provide a valuable communication tool with the PCF according to ISO 14067. \nParticipation is free of charge – we look forward to seeing you. \nThe webinar language is German. \nThe webinar will not be recorded. \nParticipants will receive the presentation afterwards.
