After eleven meetings held subsequent to the last plenary session in Berlin in November 2016, a first draft of the new EN 15804+A2 was presented in October 2017 in Valetta, Malta. The draft had been prepared by six working groups, who met independently to develop the draft and compile it for presentation at the 2017 plenary session.
At the initiative of the International Open Data Network for Sustainable Building (InData), on 16 February, in conjunction with the BauZ! 2017 Congress in Vienna, an international workshop was held, entitled ‘Linking Building Information Modelling (BIM) to Life Cycle Assessments (LCA)’ – with particular focus on Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).
On 2 March 2017, IBU hosted all of the verifiers appointed by the Advisory Council at the annual verifier meeting in Berlin. The primary aim of the one-day meeting was to clarify current questions concerning the EPD verification process and to ensure harmonisation of verification practices.
At the IBU Annual General Meeting (AGM) in June, the general assembly agreed to the proposed procedure regarding the handling of expiring EPDs after their 5 year validity period. Pursuant to the joint proposal of the IBU Board and Advisory Board, all expiring EPDs have to be aligned to the current valid versions of the underlying PCR guidance documents before renewal.
