Since September 2015 the Turkish company Aspen Yapi ve Zemin Sistemleri San. ve Tic. A. S., which produces “Suspended Ceiling”, ”Partitioning”, “Raised Access Floor” and “LED Lighting” systems, has been a member at Institut Bauen und Umwelt (IBU). Aspen has already published several Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) in the IBU programme, showing its commitment to sustainability and supplying detailed information on the environmental impacts of its products.
In 1989 Aspen was founded in Turkey and has since developed construction products and systems for interior which are applied around the world. The company specializes in “Suspended Ceilings”, “Partitioning”, “Raised Access Floor” and “LED Lighting” systems. “By combining these four areas we can offer different aesthetical and functional solutions while designing interiors for commercial, public and residential spaces. We meet diverse requirements and expectations“, says Ferhat Özbasoglu, Deputy General Manager at Aspen. So far, the company has created seven EPDs for “Suspended Ceilings” and “Partitions”. Aspen supplies comprehensive information on the environmental impact of its products throughout their entire life cycle. All data is based on the European standard EN 15804, which has been applicable for construction products and services since 2012. In Germany, IBU is the sole organization to operate an EPD programme for construction products across borders based on ISO and CEN standards. Standard EN 15804 is the basis for Europewide applicable EPDs and is recommended by BauPVO, (Construction Products Regulation). IBU is the first EPD programme holder that implemented and applied the respective guidelines in Europe.
Aspen stated that they have a company philosophy which is based on the vision to improve the quality of life at interior spaces through “comprehensive, innovative and modern value added solutions“. “Our quality standards are based on this philosophy“, explains Erkut Altun, Quality Manager at Aspen. “We want to offer our customers and partners optimal solutions and therefore we rely on technology, quality and service. Trust, transparency and responsibility are especially important to us.“ Creating more EPDs for Aspen products has already been planned. Furthermore, EPDs are gaining importance when a company wants access to Green Building Projects.
