The previous managing director Dr. Alexander Röder will leave the Institut Bauen und Umwelt e. V. (IBU) on March 31, 2023. Dipl.-Ing. Hans Peters and Dr. Roman Rupp will manage the business as executive board members with immediate effect. Service ideas towards planners and members are to be intensified.
The board of the Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.V. (Berlin) and its long-standing managing director Dr. Alexander Röder have agreed to terminate their cooperation by mutual consent on March 31, 2023. The proven expert in sustainability in general and life cycle assessment in particular has realigned the IBU over the past four years and prepared it for groundbreaking changes. This includes the transition to the new European standard EN 15804+A2 for EPDs of building products and the introduction of so-called Circularity Modules for Environmental Product Declarations (CMEPD), which are intended to close the data gap on recycling potentials of building products, as well as a more active positioning in the political debate at national and international level.
Peters and Dr. Rupp would like to continue to intensively promote the strategic realignment. The IBU has established itself as a globally recognized and leading program provider of EPDs through its important content and scientific work. According to the IBU, the EU taxonomy, the EU’s Green Deal, and the German government’s resource efficiency program will further bring the importance of environmentally relevant data on construction products into focus. “With the upcoming legislation in the EU and also in Germany, environmentally relevant data will necessarily become market-relevant data,” says Peters.
In order to best prepare members for upcoming challenges, the two managing directors are focusing on a more intensive service concept. The aim is to position the IBU as a full-service provider that not only makes all relevant manufacturer-related data available to planners and auditors, but also supports its members in matters of environmental and sustainability communication.
