In an impressive event at Solvay Bibliothèque in Brussels, organized by the European ECO Platform, participants from all over Europe witnessed the presentation of the achievements in the harmonization of the European EPD.
For the second time running, Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.V. (IBU) is actively involved as a co-operation partner in the German Sustainability Award. This year, two IBU Member Companies are taking part in the award of the Special Prize for Resource Efficiency: the group of companies ‘fischer’ and ‘Lebensraum Ziegel’. The Award acknowledges exemplary commitment to closed substance cycle waste management, recycling, raw material and resource management.
During a stay in Helsinki IBU took the chance for a mutual introduction of the EPD programmes with the Finnish programme operator RTS (Building Information Foundation RTS sr).
On the agenda of the IBU Annual General Meeting there were several current and practice related topics of special interest for construction product manufacturers, such as digitalization, present development regarding standardization and laws, as well as the future role of EPDs. Traditionally, these items kick-off the meeting in the morning.
For a long time the provision of environmental information has been a time consuming and costly issue for the industry. Now the ECO Platform solves this problem with the ECO EPD – a truly European solution for all construction products.
