In 2017 about 80 EPDs according to EN 15804 will expire.

IBU Welcomes New Colleague

EPD-Sonderausgabe

Andrea Littig, new IBU Project Assistant

As of 1 March 2017, the IBU office staff has grown by one, with the addition of Andrea Littig, holder of a Master’s degree in law, who is now working as a Project Assistant in the Berlin office.

‘As a student employee, Andrea Littig had been actively and reliably supporting our team ever since September 2015, assisting with such activities as EPD management, website maintenance, and research tasks’, explains IBU Managing Director Dr Burkhart Lehmann. Having successfully completed her Master’s degree programme in business law, this young mother of two children, aged two and five, is now a permanent employee at IBU and, in the coming year, will, among other responsibilities, take over maintenance of the website and the EPD Online Tool, as well as manage other data administration tasks for the home office. Additional activities will include assisting with member services and team support.

UBA-funded EPD project launched

Module C and D in focus

Together with Ingenieurbüro Trinius and Dr. Eva Schmincke, IBU participates in a research project funded by the German Federal Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt, UBA) with the topic "Resource-conserving structures - EPD for construction products: deconstruction and recycling information (module C and D) and contaminant data".

Mandacaru uses IBU donation for building a cistern in Brazil

By means of the Christmas donation of the IBU to the relief organization Mandacaru, announced in December 2016, a cistern has been built in the north-east of Brazil with local building materials and with the help of local workers.

Geni Maria and Francisco Agnelo Filho are the proud owners of the cistern. As a result, this family was able to secure its existence in the semi-dry zone and to prevent national migration. In addition, the donation will support the Mandacaru Ecoscience School in Pedro Segundo. Organic farming and animal welfare. Thus a holistic donation in the sense of sustainability.
